Officer Elections by Proxy ONLY

This year BBU officer elections will be completed via voting proxy ONLY. Your membership voting proxy has been mailed to the address we have on file for your membership account. Please be looking for the proxy in your mailbox THIS WEEK. We ask that you please complete your proxy as soon as possible and return it using the provided prepaid envelope.




General Membership Meeting
Although we will not have our normal convention this year, we are still hosting our annual general membership meeting via Zoom web conference. The membership meeting and election results will be held via web conference on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. This meeting is open to all BBU members and you can join the meeting via Zoom by clicking the link here and registering for the meeting. Once you register and are approved, you will receive a confirmation email that will provide instructions on how to join the meeting via Zoom.

Please note: no election voting will take place during the meeting, votes will ONLY be taken via proxy this year.




Board of Directors Meeting

Although we will not have our normal convention this year, we are still hosting a Board of Directors meeting via Zoom web conference. The Board of Directors will be held via web conference on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. This meeting is open to all BBU members and you can join the meeting via Zoom. Members will receive a separate email invitation for registration to attend the Board of Directors meeting via Zoom. This invitation will be sent to the email address we have on file for you account, so please make sure it is current.




Lone Star BBA Carcass Ultrasound Scan Day

  • Carcass Ultrasound Scan Day is October 24, 2020
  • Steve and Cindy Emmons will be hosting the Lone Star Scan Day on October 24, 2020.
  • The Emmons Ranch is located at 541 State Highway 75 North; Fairfield, TX 75840 (5 Miles NORTH of Fairfield.)
  • Ages of calves 500 to 320 days old would have a birthdate between June 12, 2019 to December 1, 2019.
  • Clay Emmons will be scanning for us. Please contact Debbie Cheatham for an appointment at 972-979-8556 or email Debbie.cheatham@proforma.com. We will unload, scan and reload! In and Out Scan!
  • You must have your barnsheet and an appointment.
  • Cost is $20.00 per head

Read Latest Issue of The Beefmaster Pay Weight

As you read this, the Fall 2020 issue of The Beefmaster Pay Weight has been mailed out to over 12,000 cattlemen and cattlewomen. The newspaper should have arrived in your mailbox this week. We encourage you to share the digital version with your friends, family and other cattle producers you do business with. Fall 2020 Genetic Evaluation Posted

The 2020 Fall Genetic Evaluation is now available at www.beefmasters.org. This summary compiles the massive amounts of data collected by Beefmaster breeders, as well as the more recently collected genomic results, into the best possible predictions of each animal’s genetic merit.








BBU Standard of Excellence

The Six Essentials are what differentiates Beefmasters from all other beef breeds. The BBU Board of Directors developed a Standard of Excellence brochure to provide a summation of what a Beefmaster should be like physically, as defined within our founding philosophy.




Join the BBU “Go International Team” (GIT)

GIT is a voluntary BBU program focused on international marketing of Beefmaster genetics.

GIT Membership Benefits:

  • Free listing in International Semen Directory. Option to buy a color display ad in same publication. Must be a GIT member to participate.
  • Directory to be featured in BBU booth at all functions
  • Listing / weblink on BBU’s “Go International Team” section of Beefmasters.org
  • Receive notice of any international inquiries received at office or website.
  • Use of GI logo in advertising and directory
  • Can participate in BBU international mission trips (non-members not eligible)
  • Can apply for reverse trade funds to bring foreign guests to sales or events. Only GIT members can apply. This includes Satellites.
  • Featured on BBU list of recommended locations for international visits. A list with contact info for each member will be given to all international guests planning a U.S. tour.
  • Eligible to participate in International field days and reverse trade missions
  • Listed as sponsor of any potential International Field Days or Sale Events.




BBU Rule Changes Coming January 1, 2021

  • All embryo calves will have to be genotyped prior to registration (parent verification (PV) is NOT required) –  which means they must first get a P# to be genotyped.
  • Every AI calf registered will require an AI certificate to register
  • Every embryo calf (without embryos recorded in your BBU inventory) will require and AI certificate to register

RGV Beef Development Program         

The Rio Grande Valley 23rd Annual Bull Gain Test and Heifer Development Program will be starting on October 7, 2020 at Rio Beef Feedyard in Linn, Texas.
