DNA Must Arrive December 9th!
If you would like any DNA samples processed before the end of the year, we MUST receive your animal’s DNA samples on or before December 9, 2022. Any samples received after December 9, 2022 we are not guaranteed to receive or ship to the DNA lab until after January 2, 2023. We will NOT be accepting DNA samples during the time period of December 19, 2022 – January 2, 2023 to ensure that samples are not lost during the holiday season office closure and relocation to Bryan, Texas.

Louisiana BBA Field Day
Thank you to everyone who came out and supported this year’s LBBA Fall Field Day. We hope that it was an educational experience for you. A special thanks to the speakers: Mrs. Megan McKee, Mr. Darrin Goodwin, Mr. Charlie Harrell, and Dr. Tom Shields. WHR & IBR News
The 2023 WHR (Whole Herd Reporting) and IBR (Inventory Based Reporting) inventories will be available online to participating members in December 2022. Be on the lookout for your inventories in your online BBU account.
The IBR inventories must be completed and posted online by February 1, 2023. An additional $5 per head will be assessed for the IBR inventories posted online after February 1, 2023.
The WHR inventories must be completed and posted online by May 1, 2023. An additional $5 per head will be assessed for the WHR inventories posted online after May 1, 2023.
Please note if you are participating in a spring 2023 sale, your WHR or IBR inventory needs to be updated and returned prior to registering any animals born in 2023. BBU members who are interested in enrolling in the WHR or IBR programs, but are not currently participating, please contact the BBU office at 210-732-3132.

Next Genetic Evaluation Run
We will be running the next Beefmaster breed genetic evaluation in early 2023. In order for animals to be included in this genetic evaluation, our office must have the animal’s performance data and registration application submitted by December 10th. Please contact the BBU office at 210-732-3132 if you have any questions.
Beefmaster Caps Make Great Christmas Gifts!
We have several different styles of caps for sale and if you order before December 15 we can get the caps shipped to you before Christmas! The caps cost $20 each plus shipping. Genetics Point the Way in Dogs and in Beefmaster Cattle
Longtime BBU members Roger and Kaye Fuller were recently featured in a Progressive Farmer article. Kaye and her husband, Roger Fuller, took their knowledge of genetics in goldens in another direction in 1985, when they bought a ranch in Austin, Texas, today known as “KC Beefmasters.” The previous owner had 200 head of quality Beefmasters, a cross between Herefords, Brahman and Shorthorns. But that wasn’t what the Fullers walked into when they bought the ranch.

Advertise in the 2023 JBBA Catalog
JBBA is seeking advertiseres to help create a bound collection of full color advertisements from breeders, businesses, marketing groups and JBBA supporters. This collection will also include the JBBA AI Program nominated bulls and information. Every junior Beefmaster exhibitor showing at Fort Worth Stock Show, San Antonio Livestock Expo, Houston Livestock Show, Rio Grande Valley, Dixie National, Oklahoma Youth Expo, and LSU State Livestock Show will receive a branded bag with the bound advertisements and promotional items. The goal is to promote the Beefmaster breed to youth exhibitors, current breeders, ag teachers, and county agents.

Nominate your bull for 2023 JBBA AI Program
JBBA is looking for nominations to be included in the 2023 A.I. Program. This program is designed to help JBBA members find semen on bulls to improve their herd at a discounted rate. Over the past few years, there has been over 1,000 straws of semen sold on various bulls through this program.

The 2023 JBBA National Show and Convention will be held July 15-20, 2023 in Belton at the Bell County Expo Center.
JBBA Gun Raffle Tickets on Sale

SOMMET DE L’ÉLEVAGE 2022
Over 1,500 exhibitors, 2,000 animals and almost 100,000 farming industry visitors gathered in Clermont-Ferrand, France from October 4-7 for SOMMET DE L’ÉLEVAGE. SOMMET DE L’ÉLEVAGE is recognized as being one of the biggest livestock shows in the world. Beefmaster Breeders United was one of the thousands of trade show exhibitors during the event. In attendance representing BBU was our International Programs Director Jon Garza and Kalli Ellis who serves as our International Committee Regional Vice Chairman for Europe & Asia.
