Holden Beefmaster Field Day

Dr. Roger Holden, owner of Cedar Springs Beefmasters, Conway, Mo., hosted over 300 people on  September 23rd for a field day. Young folks from three FFA chapters and many commercial cattle breeders were in attendance.

Speakers included Randy Wiedmeier, Livestock Specialist and CPD of the Ozark County Extension Service talking about grazing endophyte infected Fescue, Lance Bauer of BBU discussing the heterosis advantages of Beefmasters, and Sargent William Jones of the Green County Rural Crimes Division with ways to guard against theft.

Farm raised Beefmaster beef was served for lunch. Ultrasound demonstrations by David Aborn followed lunch. The program concluded with drawings for a pick of heifers given to a student in attendance and a pick of bulls to a commercial breeder. Many folks stayed after the program to tour the ranch and look at the squeeze chutes, trailers, panels, and other farm related items on display by one of the 9 businesses that helped sponsor the event, Hats off to Dr Holden for organizing and hosting such an outstanding event.
